Meet Joy

Hey there!

Hello! Thanks for being here. I’m Joy :)

I began teaching movement not because I loved moving. I really didn’t, still don’t sometimes. It’s hard. No, I started teaching because of how moving made me feel.

I was first introduced to Pilates in college where I took a semester of Pilates mat. This was 50 minutes, twice a week of shaking, sweating, and frustration with how freaking tight my hamstrings were. Anyone relate? Yet afterwards I could not get over about how amazing I felt.

Pilates changed my life because it brought me back into relationship with my body.

This is why I do what I do. I know what it is like to move through the world with little awareness or connection to my body. I also know what it feels like to live from the support, wisdom, and choice that simply exists in our bodies. There are too many of us walking around, unaware of the support and intelligence always at our fingertips (literally.)

I want to support anyone who’s curious to shift how they feel.

I began teaching Pilates in 2021 as I completed Balanced Body’s Comprehensive Pilates Instructor program. My work with clients is greatly influenced by the time I’ve worked along side pelvic floor Physical Therapists, the courses I’ve taken in Ortho-Bionomy®, the year I lived in New Zealand working with pre/post natal bodies, and the dozens of clients I’ve supported living with chronic pain, hyper mobility, and hEDS.
